A serial entrepreneur, Darren is the past President of Granville Island Coffee, a company he built in 5 years from a small artisan roaster to a national brand. He is the innovative mind behind the 100% plant-based and fully compostable G-POD. His expertise, dedication and pioneering ideas are the backbone of our organization.
Ash spent 12 years in capital markets with a national investment bank in Vancouver. As an original founder of G-PAK, he plays an integral role in helping G-PAK in all capacities across financing (public, private and government), operations, and marketing.
Dr. Hudson is the Canada Research Chair in Sustainable Chemistry at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Hudson holds a B.Sc. and Ph.D. in chemistry from Queen’s University and has held research fellowships at top universities in Japan, China, the US and UK. His Ph.D. thesis was named the top chemistry Ph.D. in all of Canada, as well as the top Ph.D. at Queen’s in any field. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific papers, including six in Science or Nature journals, and holds 3 patents. He currently leads a team of 12 researchers at UBC developing new polymeric materials for sustainable technologies.
Steve has over 20 years of experience in management positions with Choices Markets, a $100 million revenue local chain grocer. He played a key role in building the business from start-up to stability and profitability through the opening of 10 large retail stores. He is characterized by high empathy, a strong work ethic, and a personal commitment to sustainability, collaborative teamwork, and empowering leadership that makes a difference.
Rajwant S. Kang is the founder & president of RSK Management Consulting Inc. a private company that provides management services and has over 25 years of accounting and finance experience. He has proficient knowledge of capital markets, raising capital, M&A and corporate regulation of publicly listed companies. Mr. Kang holds a CPA, CMA. designation granted by the Society of Management Accountants of British Columbia, Canada as well as an HND in Business and Finance from East Berkshire College in Berkshire, United Kingdom.
Rob has been an investor and advisor to technology and growth related businesses for the past 25 years. Part of NEXE’s (formerly G-PAK) founding team, Rob brings a unique perspective in the areas of financing, marketing and brand development. Currently a partner in Sociable Ventures, advisor to Altus Capital and Director of Hemptown Organics Corp.
Anthony holds 20 years of experience in marketing, strategy and business development. He joined Vega where he built a 50-member team that developed a leading marketing program overseeing consumer, trade, PR, creative and digital marketing.
Leonard Clough began his career at RBC Dominion Securities in 1998 and spent 13 years in investment management. In 2013, he founded Toro Pacific Management Inc, a capital markets advisory firm focussing on high growth, early-stage companies looking to access the Canadian capital markets. Mr. Clough also has extensive public company management experience and has worked in senior management roles including CEO and Director of several companies.
Paul has over 20 years of manufacturing and automation experience. He grew a small family Hamilton-based machine shop into a Tier 1 & 2 automotive production machining/assembly/testing facility with two locations in Ontario and one in Saltillo, Mexico. Paul will be focused on defining, sourcing and implementing manufacturing capacity at G-PAK to ensure fulfilment of customer requirements in a timely, cost-effective, and quality sensitive manner.
Jason is currently Principal of Swordfish Capital Inc., a boutique financial advisory firm specializing in capital markets planning for both public and private corporations looking to raise growth capital.
For 25 years, Mark has been involved in both real estate and technology as CEO of Discovery Parks and Discovery Foundation in Vancouver. The Discovery Group created two million square feet of labs, offices and space to support and grow early-stage technology companies.
John spent 25 years with Sysco Food Service learning everything about the food, packaging and service needs of restaurants. He then joined Tim Hortons for seven years as Executive Vice President, Supply Chain where he learned all things coffee.
Neil’s heart is in sales. His passion for solving customer needs led him to create his own company, which morphed from a vending machine business in 1997 to a multi-channel retail, e-commerce and distribution company servicing Canada with a focus on single-serve coffee.
